Enter a Job Title. eg. Looking for local contractor to redo my kitchen for example.

Write a Job Description. Include specific details to avoid unnecessary questions from applicants.

Include such details as:

• Layout, colors, textures
• Your preferred style (eg. modern or classic)
• Best time for the local contractor to stop by your home

Upload photos/video by clicking Attach Files. This is a very useful way to give contractors visual information about a project, which can help them provide you with accurate quotes and estimates for the job.

Tip: We highly recommend uploading a short video summary of your job since it conveys far more information than a written description. The StartAJob mobile app allows you to record a video using your mobile phone and upload it automatically.

Enter your Maximum Budget. This is the maximum amount of money you are ready to pay for the job. Note: Pros can offer a price equal or less than your Maximum Budget.

For Category, choose Local Service Providers. On the right tab, choose a sub-category which matches the field of work you require from your contractor.

Find specific skills. Skills help our platform target the most relevant pro by their qualifications. For example, choose the skill “Cabinet installation” if you need someone to renovate your kitchen.

When you add skills to your job post, it helps remove unqualified pros from consideration and leaves only the most qualified candidates.

Tips:

• Pros are interested in earning as many medals as they can based on their qualifications, since winning more medals results in higher ratings for a Pro as well as gaining various bonuses and incentives from StartAJob.
• You can award Pros skills-based medals for each completed job, so match the most accurate skills based on the job requirements.

Quick Tips:

• Once your job is posted and approved, pros with matching skills in your area will be notified immediately so they can bid on your project.
• Friends and family always have great recommendations. You can easily share your job post on Twitter and Facebook to get their help. Just click on the social media icons on your job post under Invite. Your friends and family can easily send pros to your job post, saving you the trouble of explaining your job requirements over and over again.
• If you know any skilled pros outside of StartAJob, send them the link to your project (you can find this link under Invite on your job post).
  This will save you the trouble of repeatedly explaining your job requirements and help concentrate all offers in a single place and choose the best one
• And as a special bonus, if you get new Pros to register on StartAJob you will earn a commission on ALL future jobs that Pro does through our platform.

Once you start getting bids from local pros, you should carefully review proposals, read profiles, see which local pro has the skills and experience needed to do your job, and message them for more information. Once you've found the best person for the job, click Hire Worker.

Note: communication outside of StartAJob is NOT recommended. Our platform verifies the identities of all its users, but candidates who request off-site communication may be using false identities or running a scam. For your own safety, keep all activities on-site.

Fund your project by clicking Escrow Deposit. Escrow is a secure 3rd party system which holds your payment and releases it when needed. Enter the amount you and the winning pro have agreed to and provide a brief description of what requirements have to be met for payment. Eg. $750 for cabinet installation.

• StartAJob also offers a quality guarantee. That means your contractor will not be paid unless you are 100% satisfied with their work. In case of a dispute, StartAJob has an arbitration service to help resolve issues.
• However, communication or paying outside of our platform cannot be taken into consideration during any final decisions made by arbitration. Therefore, to protect yourself always make sure to deposit all funds into our secure escrow system and NEVER pay contractors directly.

Once the job is over, click the Release button to pay your pro. Award Gold, Silver or Bronze skill medals depending on your pro’s performance. Your Pro will be grateful to you.

These medals are based on the skills you chose when creating a project, and can be used to measure a Pro’s level of expertise. You can also choose not to award any medals if your pro fails to perform his or her duties.
