I need an illustrator for a book for music teachers

I am writing a book for young orchestra and band conductors. It is the first of its kind in the field. Some preliminary chapters are at davidbarg.com. The drawings are wonderful, but the person doing them is no longer available. It would be fantastic to find someone else who can capture the spirit of these illustrations. The budget is $500-$750. If you respond to this ad, you MUST have played in a student orchestra or band; otherwise, you you will not know the kind of people and situations that need the sensitive and aware approach I’m looking for. SO: please tell me the instrument you played in the first sentence of your proposal. I have attached samples of the previous illustrator’s work, along with an explanation of the situation. If you have played in these ensembles, I look forward to hearing from you with samples of similar kinds of work. I would then send you a musical situation to illustrate. If it’s what I need, we can get going right away. The deadline is very close - my layout person will need the illustrations in a week. If you're willing to make a sample to illustrate a specific situation (violin section leader standing and speaking to 2-3 members of her section; one is listening and 2 are marking their music) then we can talk further. If you are familiar with musical ensembles, you will have seen the situation I just described many, many times. I hope you are! I’m not looking specifically for someone to imitate that style, but to create in her/his own style. If you can do that style, however - winsome, cute, clear message, good humor and heart - great.
